Rapid Details & 3D Profiler Interim Release is Online Now

Posted by Josh on December 22nd, 2009 filed in 3D Profiler, ArchiCAD 13, Development, Rapid Details

The Interim Release for 3D Profiler and Rapid Detailer mentioned last week (here) is now online.

Just login and go to My AccountDownloadsInterim Releases to grab the 208 builds.

Please Note: If you own both 3D Profiler and Rapid Details, you will need to install both of the Build 208 interim releases, as they make changes to each other. If you only own one tool which has a build 208 release, then you’ll be fine with just that release.

Interim Release – Rapid Details & 3D Profiler

Posted by Josh on December 17th, 2009 filed in 3D Profiler, Development, Rapid Details

We’re just finishing work on a pair of new Interim Releases for the Rapid Detailer and 3D Profiler Tools. We’ve brought the Rapid Detailer up to speed with the enhanced Preset/Profile Management system that we integrated into the Wall Framing and 3D Profiler tools a month or so ago.

Major changes are:

  • Presets are Embedded in Detail Elements
  • Link to relevent Help articles firectly from within the tool’s interface
  • All available presets are loaded in the Preset Files list.
  • No need to browse for presets anymore!
  • You will, however, need to import presets before you start working with the new system.
  • Always save presets to the correct folder (ie. you can’t forget where you saved a preset)

We are planning to have the new releases out early next week, so keep watching the Blog, FaceBook Page, or Twitter to find out as soon as it goes live.

Using Breaklines

Posted by Andrew on April 20th, 2009 filed in Rapid Details, Tip of the Week

The RD – Breakline object is a symbol to show a break in construction for a detail drawing. While it is simple enough to use, there are some useful techniques that you may not be aware of.

When you place the break line, you should use the ‘rotate and stretch’ geometry method as indicated on the object’s Custom Settings dialog. This allows you to place, orient and stretch the symbol into place in one shot. Click in the info box to select this option before you place the break symbol.

tss1 Using Breaklines

The break line includes a solid, white ‘masking’ fill. This is designed to screen out all lines and fills that it covers.

tss2 Using Breaklines

By default the masking fill is placed to the left of or above the break line, but you move the dynamic hotspot to pull it to the opposite side or to extend the area of fill.

tss3 Using Breaklines

Of course, you will need to bring the display order of the break line to the front, or it may not mask out some elements.

Rapid Details for ArchiCAD 12 – Important Note

Posted by Campbell on July 24th, 2008 filed in ArchiCAD 12, Rapid Details, Support

It has come to our attention that when Rapid Details is first installed in ArchiCAD 12 that the ArchiCAD Default Pens for the Rapid Detail Tool default to 0. This causes a number of issues and warnings.

The issue is easily remedied by opening up the Rapid Details Settings dialog, switching to the Floor Plan and Section Tab and setting all relevant Pen Settings to 1 (ie Symbol Line Pens, Cut Line Pens etc.)

Enhanced Rapid Details Released!

Posted by Campbell on October 30th, 2007 filed in ArchiCAD 11, Product News, Rapid Details

We are pleased to annouce the release of an enhanced version of the popular Rapid Details Tool.

All users who have purchased or upgraded to the ArchiCAD 11 version of Rapid Details are entitled to this update at no charge.

Since the last update of Rapid Details, ArchiCAD has developed even further to provide us with opportunities to offer our users more productive features. This is the most significant major update of Rapid Details so far and it is based on user feedback.

Rapid Details includes a range of Detail Elements from quite simple ones to highly sophisticated structures.

In the new version we focused on the essence of the product: to enable fast detailing of complex structures.

The intuitive use of placement methods allows you to place Detail Elements the most efficient way.

It is now quicker to select a standard with the redesigned user interface.

The new dynamic hotspots are helpful to make changes intuitive and simple.

Detail Elements that display the Cadimage Tools logo on their preview picture use Cadimage 3D Profiler technology. This means that if you also have 3D Profiler you can simply select and place your profiles in Rapid Details as well.

All Detail Elements are available from a dedicated tool in the ArchiCAD Toolbar. Please make sure you read the Setup instructions in the Rapid Details Manual in the Help menu of ArchiCAD.

List of Enhancements

  • Dynamic Editing Hotspots
  • Streamlined User Interface
  • Use of Profiler Technology
  • New Elements
  • Extended range of options
